Do you own a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck? If so, your vehicle may have an active recall that should be remedied as quickly as possible. If you own a Ridgeline from 2006 through 2014, there is currently a recall issued for your mid-size truck. Now, this recall does not impact all Honda trucks. Strangely enough, only vehicles in certain states have been impacted. And those states include ones that use road salt in order to deal with winter weather.

Which Honda Ridgelines have been recalled?

Honda trucks that are currently under recall include Ridgeline models from 2006 until 2014. And the following states have been impacted, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indians, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Washington, D.C.

These states all use road salt in order to cope with ice or snowy conditions. And while salt can be effective, it can also be tough on cars. Salt causes rust, which spells bad news for the Honda Ridgeline. With rust on the frame, the fuel tank can detach and cause a fire. So, you will probably want to get this issue fixed if your pickup is affected.

Is the Honda Ridgeline reliable?

According to Consumer Reports, the Ridgeline does have a high reliability rating. At least for 2022. Although Honda’s mid-size truck does not sell all that well, it is good at what it does. Coming with a standard V6 and all-wheel drive, you can get a fairly capable pickup.

Now, it is worth mentioning that the Ridgeline uses unibody construction. It shares its platform with the Honda Pilot. Because of that, it is not as rugged as something like a body-on-frame pickup. But if you are looking for a truck that is comfortable and offers some premium materials, this Honda might be right for you.

How do you know if your truck has a recall?

Generally speaking, the manufacturer of your vehicle should alert you if there is an active recall. Typically this is done via mail. You can also plug in your VIN into a tool from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to see if your specific model needs a fix.

If there is an issued recall, it is on the manufacturer to cover the cost. Because of this, when it is time to get a recall fixed, you need to take your vehicle to your local dealership.

Should you buy a new Honda Ridgeline?

Although some Ridgeline models have been impacted by a recall, it does not mean you shouldn’t consider buying a 2022 model. The Ridgeline is available in a variety of different trim levels, and it offers more comfort than your typical mid-size truck.

That said, Honda’s pickup is not necessarily cheap. But, it has earned a recommendation from Consumer Reports. So, if you do not need the capability of a full-size truck and you want something that can thrive in a city environment, you should consider this vehicle.
