In recent time, the concept of a retro classic modern motorcycle is in. Manufacturers like Royal Enfield, Jawa, Benelli and many more have been launching the offering for the Indian market and pretty much all the motorcycles are gaining traction as far as the sales are concerned.
However, according to the latest article by Rushlane, a test mule from Yamaha was spotted testing on the Yamuna Expressway. This motorcycle could be the Yamaha XSR 250. Although, there is no branding seen on the motorcycle. The motorcycle’s silhouette is very similar to images of the possible XSR 250 prototype which made its appearance in an Indonesian auto magazine back in 2019.
There are a lot of indications that this is a product from Yamaha such as similar alloys, fuel tank, seat, exhaust and the overall design of the motorcycle itself. The suspension setup is likely to comprise inverted telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock at the rear.
Braking duties on the upcoming motorcycle is expected to be handled by a single disc at each end along with dual-channel ABS as standard. Mechanically, we are expecting the XSR 250 to be powered by the same 250cc engine which powers the FZ25 in India. This unit produces 20bhp of power and 20Nm of peak torque. The engine comest mated to a five-speed gearbox.
In other recent Yamaha news, the company earlier launched the new MY21 version of their popular ‘FZ Series’, consisting of the FZ-Fi and the FZS-Fi motorcycles. The 2021 Yamaha FZ and FZS motorcycles feature subtle design changes, along with a few additional features. The 2021 Yamaha FZ-Fi has been priced at Rs 1.03 lakh, while the 2021 FZS-Fi carries a price tag of Rs 1.07 lakh. All prices mentioned above are ex-showroom (Delhi).

Since the retro classic concept is kicking in, it will be a good time for Yamaha to launch this upcoming quarter-litre motorcycle in the Indian market. Once launched, the XSR 250 will go up against the likes of the Bajaj Dominar 250 in India.
