Yamaha has launched the new Force 2.0 in Taiwan. Though this name could confuse many Bollywood fans, I would like to clarify that this scooter is in no way related to the 2016 Bollywood movie named ‘Force 2’.

Now coming back to the new Yamaha Force 2.0, it is based on the Yamaha Aerox 155 that was launched recently in India.

Though the new Yamaha Aerox 155 costs Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Yamaha Force 2.0 in Taiwan costs TWD 99,000, which is roughly equivalent to Rs 2.66 lakh in India.

However, the new Yamaha Force 2.0 comes with plenty of differences, especially in the design of the scooter.

Despite the new Yamaha Force 2.0 being based on the Yamaha Aerox 155, the new Yamaha Force 2.0 looks nothing like the Yamaha Aerox 155.

The new Yamaha Force 2.0 sports a front end that looks bulkier than the sleek looking Yamaha Aerox 155 and also sports stubbier looking twin-pod headlights. However, the headlights use halogen bulbs instead of LED units.

The new Yamaha Force 2.0 also comes with a flat floorboard unlike the Yamaha Aerox 155 which has a spine-bump running through the centre of the floorboard

Other noticeable changes in the new Yamaha Force 2.0is the use of flat single-piece seats, new alloy wheels, a new side panel with an ‘A’-shaped element, and a straight tail lamp.

Overall, the new Yamaha Force 2.0 looks stubbier and more masculine than the sleek and sharp looking Yamaha Aerox 155.

In terms of dimensions, the wheelbase of the new Yamaha Force 2.0 is slightly smaller than its predecessor at 1340mm, which is a reduction of 65mm. Moreover, the seat height has also gone up by 10mm for 815mm seat height.

This means that the new Yamaha Force 2.0 could be more agile than its predecessor. Apart from that, the new Yamaha Force 2.0 rides on 13-inch wheels unlike the Yamaha Aerox 155, which rides on 14-inch wheels.

Though Yamaha claims that the new Force 2.0 is underpinned by an all-new chassis that is 27 percent lighter than the one used in its predecessor, it still weighs a rather porky 130 kg.

Powering the new Yamaha Force 2.0 is the same 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that powers other Yamaha two-wheelers such as the Yamaha R15 V4, MT15, Aerox 155 and a few more.

This engine in the new Yamaha Force 2.0 produces 14.8 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm and sends power to the rear wheels via a CVT gearbox.

Braking duties are carried out by a large 267mm disc brake at the front and a 230mm disc brake at the rear. The whole braking setup is further enhanced with a dual-channel ABS system.

Features-wise, the new Yamaha Force 2.0 gets some decent level of equipment such as a 5.1-inch LCD instrument display, traction control system (TCS), silent starter, external fuel filler cap, telescopic front suspension, preload-adjustable rear shocks, and a few more.

Thoughts About The New Yamaha Force 2.0

The new Yamaha Force 2.0 is an aggressive-looking scooter with plenty of performance on offer. However, with a hefty price tag of Rs 2.66 lakh, it is more than double the price compared to the Yamaha Aerox 155.
