WeaveGrid, which builds data products to increase the adoption of EVs, announced a new pilot program available to EV owners who are customers of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E).
The evPulse program is being implemented on behalf of PG&E and is focused on improving grid resiliency and on helping customers to save money by opting into automated EV charging during times when electricity costs are lowest. Another one of these “smart times” is also when energy from renewable resources is more abundant.
WeaveGrid hopes to enroll between 8,000 and 16,000 eligible EV owners and plans will be the largest program of its kind in the nation. The company will use vehicle telematics to automate charging schedules and will include factors such as utility rates, electricity grid needs, and customer preferences.
PG&E customers who participate will receive a Recommended Charging Schedule and access to a personalized dashboard that shows the optimal charging times. They will also receive up to $150 for participating in the program. If you are a PG&E customer and would like to learn more, you can click here.
