It doesn’t matter who crosses the line first, petrol power wins this one although we are sure many will concur that the sonorous Lexus LFA remains undefeated in this epic V10 battle.

YouTube channel Throttle House recently got their hands on two of the best sounding production cars ever made; the Lamborghini Huracan STO and the revered Lexus LFA. When these two are in your care for a few days, the obvious thing to do would be to pit them against each other in a drag race which is exactly what they did.
There is an obvious winner in terms of acceleration and speed but this really isn’t the objective of the race. After all, a modern supercar being put up against a model over a decade old only shows us the technical advancement supercars have made over this time. Entertainment and aural satisfaction is the purpose of this epic V10 battle.
Both models demand a ludicrous price tag but the Japanese screamer easily goes for over $1 million or R15 million in our local currency. That makes it quite the rare collection of mechanical components, none of which you’d want to break. That is why the traditional launch control which is powertrain intensive was not used in the drag races. Fortunately, it sang its 412 kW song all the way up to the 4,8-litre V10s 9 000 rpm which struggled to drone out the Italian swan song next to it.
The Huracan STO (Super Trofeo Omologata), to its left, is completely track-focused but also street legal. That means that everything between the number plates weighs only 1,339 kg. A low number when considering its 5,2litre V10 puts out a healthy 470 kW and 565 N.m, a bit more than the LFA’s 480.
With silent performance EV’s becoming commonplace, a sight like this is always welcomed.
