TVS Motor Company has announced the introduction of additional features on the base variant of its Apache RTR 200 4V motorcycle in the Indian market. The entry-level ‘single-channel ABS’ variant of the 2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V now comes with ride modes, adjustable suspension and levers and is offered with a price tag of Rs 1.28 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).

The new features were previously introduced exclusively on the motorcycle’s higher-spec ‘dual-channel ABS’ trim. Similar to the top-spec TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, the updated base variant will feature three riding modes: Rain, Urban & Sport. It will also get the same adjustable suspension setup at both the front and rear, while also being offered with adjustable brake and clutch levers.

As on the top-spec ‘dual-channel ABS’ variant, the new base variant will also have its engine optimised to offer ideal performance in different riding modes. The model uses the same 197.7cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine mated to the same five-speed gearbox.

It now churns out 17.2bhp and 16.51Nm of peak torque in the Rain and Urban ride modes. Switch to ‘Sport’ mode and the power increases to 20.4bhp and 17.25Nm of peak torque. Top speed of the motorcycle also varies between 105km/h and 127km/h between the three ride modes, as well as the ABS intrusion levels.

Coming to the suspension, the base variant of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V now features the same Showa telescopic forks at the front and a mono-shock setup at the rear, both of which are preload adjustable. Braking remains the same featuring 270mm and 240mm petal discs at the front and rear, with single-channel Super-Moto ABS as standard on the base model.

The 2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V single-channel ABS variant will now also be offered with the Matte Blue paint scheme. This was previously introduced on the top-spec variant and is said to be inspired by the brand’s One-Make Championship race motorcycle. Apart from the new paint scheme, the RTR 200 will continue to be offered in the Gloss Black and Pearl White colours as before.

Thoughts On The 2021 TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Base Variant With Ride Modes

The multiple ride modes and the adjustable suspension setup was introduced on the top variant of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V earlier this year. The base variant has now also received the same updates. The 2021 RTR 200 4V model continues to rival the likes of the KTM Duke 200 and the Bajaj NS200 in the country.
