Sometimes you can’t go wrong with a Toyota car, truck, or SUV. Thankfully, Toyota’s most satisfying five-year-old hybrids have a lot to offer buyers. With three cars and two sport utility vehicles to choose from, check out the standard safety features to ensure your new car has everything it needs.

Toyota’s most satisfying five-year-old hybrids include the Prius

The 2017 Toyota Prius is a classic five-year-old hybrid. It has a lot of room, and the hatchback only adds to the sedan’s versatility. Toyota offers the Prius in two additional forms: the Prius V and the Prime. All of these received the “green choice” accolade from Consumer Reports.

The owner-reported fuel economy for the Toyota Prius sedan is 53 mpg overall, and the owner satisfaction score was pretty high. Forward collision warning (FCW), automatic emergency braking (AEB), and lane departure warning (LDW) are standard safety features. The 2017 Prius also has lane-keeping assist (LKA) and adaptive cruise control (ACC) for more help on the road.

Price Range: $21,300 – $24,925

The Camry is one of Toyota’s most satisfying five-year-old hybrids

The other sedan option, the 2017 Toyota Camry, is safe and reliable. It sells well, it is roomy, and the hybrid gets good fuel economy. The Camry is on the bigger side for sedans, but that means buyers have more room for groceries and luggage. FCW and AEB are only optional on the Camry for 2017, so be on the lookout for one with these included, if possible.

Price Range: $18,975 – $22,900

Regarding Toyota’s most satisfying five-year-old hybrids, the 2017 Highlander checks all those boxes. It returned 22 mpg overall from owners and received high marks in the area of owner satisfaction. The Highlander hybrid is known for its reliability and longevity. With three rows and extra space in the cargo area, the Highlander is the perfect road trip sport utility vehicle. FCW and AEB are included.

Price Range: $25,125 – $34,625

The RAV4 sport utility vehicle is compact but still reliable

Another SUV option from Toyota is the 2017 RAV4. People love the RAV4, and the hybrid only makes it better. Owners report that the interior is roomy and among the most reliable SUVs you can buy. Toyota included FCW, AEB, LDW, LKA, and ACC for the 2017 version, which has many standard safety features for a five-year-old vehicle.

Price Range: $20,650 – $28,250

Scores for the 2017 Toyota Avalon range from good to better. Consumer Reports found it to be a reliable option, and owners agreed. The Avalon comes with a spacious and comfortable ride that is better as a hybrid. Toyota added FCW and AEB as standard options in 2017, which means this is a pretty safe choice all around.

Price Range: $21,775 – $27,400

Used car prices are supposed to fall sometime soon, hopefully allowing for more reliable options in everyone’s budgets. These are Toyota’s most satisfying five-year-old hybrids but don’t stay limited to 2017 models if you don’t have to. You might find more active safety features in a newer version, even if it is on the higher end of the budget.
