A glimpse of the next generation BMW S1000RR.
The German publication Motorrad Magazine has caught a glimpse of the next generation BMW S1000RR ahead of its unveiling at EICMA later this year.
Having changed very little from its release in 2009, the S1000RR is set for a big evolutionary step for 2018. And, as Asphalt and Rubber reports big changes include a “redesigned swingarm, a modified chassis shape, restyled bodywork and aesthetic pieces, and the engine case sports changes that suggest the inner-workings of the inline-four engine have been modified.”
As far as modern superbikes are concerned the S1000RR changed the game back in ’09. It forced the hand of dominant liter-bike brands out of a relatively analog existence and to follow BMW into the digital and electronically controlled age — it was the Porsche 959 of the two wheeled world. We’ll have to wait until EICMA in early November to see just how much of a step forward the new S1000RR really is.
