Today in Jerez the first day of testing for the SBK World Champions took place, and for the occasion eight riders competed for the best time on the Spanish circuit for several laps. The best performance was that of former world champion Jonathan Rea, who with his Kawasaki set a time of 1’ 39″ 561.

Alex Lowes, on the other hand, finished third almost a second behind his team-mate, while the Dutchman Michael van der Mark with his BMW M1000RR placed second. The other three Bavarian bikes driven by Eugene Laverty, Loris Baz and Scott Redding finished 4th, 6th and 8th.

The Honda HRC team also took advantage of the day to test the CBR1000RR-R for the new Spanish riders Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge who finished fifth and seventh respectively. On the other hand, Yamaha, Suzuki and Ducati did not participate in the tests.
