The Sportage Hybrid is more affordable than the RAV4 Hybrid, Honda CR-V Hybrid, and Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. Affordability is just one of the 2023 Sportage Hybrid’s strong suits.

The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid uses a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and a lithium battery to make 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The small hybrid SUV achieves 42 miles per gallon in the city and 44 miles per gallon on the highway.

Despite being more affordable than many of its rivals, the Sportage Hybrid offers more horsepower than the RAV4 Hybrid and Honda CR-V hybrid. It also has better fuel economy than both small hybrid SUV models. There are few small hybrid SUVs that offer more value than the Sportage Hybrid for the money.

The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid | Kia

The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid comes standard with remote keyless entry, an engine immobilizer, and auto rain-sensing windshield wipers. It also includes a 12.2-inch instrument display, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The small hybrid SUV features rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. It comes with driver attention warning, forward collision avoidance assist, and pedestrian and cyclist detection as well.

The Sportage Hybrid is well-equipped, even at the base level. The EX model comes standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, a wireless phone charger, and a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel. The final trim level adds a Harman Kardon eight-speaker audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, and navigation-based smart cruise control with stop and go.

Car and Driver recommends the EX Hybrid trim because of its larger screen, better standard tech, and comfort features. The 2023 Sportage Hybrid EX is more affordable than the base model CR-V Hybrid.

Should you buy a Kia Sportage Hybrid?

The Kia Sportage Hybrid isn’t as affordable as popular gas-powered SUVs like the Toyota RAV4, but the difference in price is very small. In fact, the Sportage Hybrid is one of the few small hybrid SUVs that cost under $27,500.

Kia’s hybrid SUV is as entry-level as compact hybrid models can get. It’s also loaded with great standard features that make it worth the money. When you consider performance and affordability, it’s easy to see why many consumers will choose the Sportage Hybrid over hybrid and internal combustion engine rivals.

The hybrid SUV may not be making huge waves in the industry, but its affordability is a game-changer for the hybrid space. South Korean automaker Kia is making sure hybrid tech is affordable enough for the average American consumer, and that’s a huge deal.
