The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been channeling its inner Dj Khaled in 2022 because all it does is win. The Ioniq 5 has been cleaning up in several categories. It is the World Car of the Year because of the incredible value it provides for the money.

The Ioniq 5 is affordable, practical, and loaded with great features. The GV60 has a very different value proposition as a luxury vehicle, but the EV shares several characteristics with the Ioniq 5. If the Ioniq 5 is the EV for the people, the Genesis GV60 is the EV for those who enjoy the finer things in life.

The 2023 GV60 starts at $58,890. That’s $18,940 more than the Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE Standard Range base model. The luxury compact electric SUV costs $7,790 more than the Ioniq 5 Limited final trim level. The Ioniq 5 Limited comes standard with leatherette seating surfaces, heated and ventilated front seats, and a Heads-up Display with Augmented Reality functions.

The GV60 comes in two different trims: Advanced and Performance. The Performance trim costs $67,890.

The 2023 Genesis GV60 makes 314 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. It has 248 miles of standard driving range. Both GV60 models are standard all-wheel drive.

The luxury electric compact SUV comes standard with blind-spot monitoring, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. It also includes a lane departure warning system, lane-keeping assist, and a Bang and Olufsen stereo system. The GV60 features a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

Features like a driver-side door facial recognition camera and interior fingerprint scanner set the luxury compact electric SUV apart from many of its competitors.

Should you buy the 2023 Genesis GV60?

The luxury compact electric SUV segment is slowly emerging as new electric vehicle nameplates are created. The GV60 is powerful, and it has a great standard driving range. It also comes with plenty of great standard driver assistance and safety features that give the EV a luxury feel.

Ultimately, the Ioniq 5 Limited AWD gets a few more miles of standard driving range and incorporates many of the same advanced driver assistance and safety tech that the GV60 Advanced trim includes. The 2023 Genesis GV60 offers great value for the money, but the Ioniq 5 Limited AWD is a bargain considering how similar it is to its fancy cousin. Edmunds praises its comfortable ride and quick acceleration.
