Japanese marque lays down challenge to other brands to “help support the prosperity of our people and communities”.

Mitsubishi Motors New Zealand (MMNZ) has laid claim to becoming the first automotive brand accredited in this country as a living-wage employer.
As the number-one overall marque so far this year, MMNZ says it has a responsibility and desire to lead from the front and champion the living-wage cause.
“The cost-of-living crisis currently impacting hard-working New Zealanders places an increased responsibility on employers to do right by their employees,” says chief operating officer, Daniel Cook, pictured.
“At Mitsubishi, we view our staff as a family and it’s important we enable our family members to thrive in this environment of escalating costs.”
MMNZ says it has long valued its employees and supported the living-wage ideology – in its own business and beyond.
“After becoming an accredited living-wage employer, we turned our attention to third-party contractors,” says Cook. “We are delighted to announce they are now also paying the living wage.
“I would like to challenge our competitors in New Zealand to help support the prosperity of our people and local communities here by joining the living-wage movement.
“Our industry has enjoyed a very successful couple of years, and we have asked a lot of our people through Covid-19 and the resulting boom in vehicle sales. Now is the time to return that support.”
In addition to the standard four weeks of annual leave, MMNZ is offering a week’s health and wellbeing leave to support its staff in spending time with family and friends.
“Time with family and friends is a critical part of the Kiwi culture. Combined with workplace flexibility, we hope to restore balance to the lives of our dedicated teams.”
