While we’ve had just a little over a year to get comfortable with the third-generation Ford F-150 Raptor, we’re going to have to re-adjust everything we knew about the off-roader pretty soon—an even wilder Raptor R is imminent, if these spy photos of the production version of the rig are any indication.
The Raptor R will take the base Raptor and crank things up to 11, to beat out the rival Ram TRX’s 10, metaphorically speaking. To that end, it will have somewhere between 725 and 750 horsepower, per recent rumours, drawn out of a Predator 5.2-litre supercharged V8 swiped from the Shelby GT500 Mustang.
“Honestly, we had to counter Ram once we knew they installed the Hellcat in the TRX,” is what one source apparently let slip to the spy photogs, which, we’ll remind you, rocks an also-supercharged V8 churning out 702 horsepower.
