Czech car manufacturer Skoda has revealed the Vision 7S concept electric SUV.

The Skoda Vision 7S gives us a first look at the Czech carmaker’s new design language as it steadily builds towards its pure electric future. The new Skoda Vision 7S concept also gives us our first look at the brand’s new logo – the eighth in its storied history.

Skoda Vision 7S Design & Features

Up at the front, the Skoda Vision 7S features sleek LED daytime running lights. On either edge are a set of vertically stacked LED headlights flanking what the Czech brand calls the ‘Tech Deck’. This flat bit of black plastic hides the array of sensors that the Vision 7S uses for its driver assist systems. The bonned features an inverted power dome with the new Skoda badge sitting atop the Tech Deck.

The Skoda Vision 7S concept SUV rides on a set of rather snazzy alloy wheels. The snazzy Rolls-Royce style coach doors feature vertical door handles that are flush with the door. Also seen on the C pillar is the same lettered Skoda badge seen on the bonnet.

The rear looks quite similar to the front in terms of the vents on the lower section of the bumper and taillights that mirror the shape of the headlights out front.

The Skoda Vision 7S is larger than Skoda’s current big EV – Enyak – and features a unique 6+1 seating arrangement with three rows of large chairs and baby’s seat on the raised central spine that runs across the centre of the SUV’s cabin.

Also seen on the inside of the new Vision 7S are a set of displays for the instrument panel and infotainment system. The larger 14.6 infotainment unit is a touchscreen unit mounted to the centre of the dash. The smaller 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster sits behind a dual-spoke steering wheel. The cabin of the Vision 7S makes extensive use of recyclable materials with the the seats upholstered in 100 per cent recycled polyester.

Skoda Vision 7S Battery, Range & Dimensions

The Skoda Vision 7S is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform for electric vehicles. The Vision 7S concept from Skoda is 5,016mm long, 1,940mm wide and 1,888mm tall. The wheelbase of the Skoda Vision 7S is 3,075mm and the electric SUV concept has a ground clearance of 242mm.

The Vision 7S concept EV draws power from a 89kWh battery pack that Skoda claims can deliver a range in excess of 600 kilometres on a single charge. The battery pack supports 200kW fast DC charging.

Speaking at the unveiling of the Vision 7S concept, Martin Jahn, Skoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing, stated: “Through our new brand identity, we’re getting ready for the electric future and clearly positioning Skoda among the external competition while at the same time distinguishing ourselves even more clearly from the other brands in the Volkswagen Group. The Vision 7S is the forerunner of our new design language that we’ll be rolling out across the entire product portfolio over the coming years. We’ll also be using it to sharpen our customer appeal; with the new styling, we are taking the brand to the next level and aligning it to our customers’ new needs and expectations, particularly regarding user experience (UX), connectivity and the entire customer journey.”
