The midsize Skoda Karoq SUV has received a mid-life update and will now start from $42,990 driveaway

Skoda has updated its midsize Karoq SUV for the second half of 2022 with prices now starting at $42,990 driveaway for the entry ‘Style’ model and topping out at $49,990 for the Sportline model.

Skoda Australia says that the Karoq Style model now has $4300 more value than before thanks to plenty of additions to its standard specification.

The Style is now fitted with black 18-inch alloy wheels (rather than the outgoing 17-inch wheels), front and rear parking sensors, power-folding mirrors, extended pedestrian protection for the autonomous emergency braking, and wireless phone charging.

Standard spec for the updated Karoq range

The updated Karoq Style offers a large amount of standard features including LED headlights, LED tail-lights, a hands-free tailgate and advanced keyless entry.

In the interior, the Style gets a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, ‘virtual cockpit’ instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch central touchscreen, an eight-speaker sound system with USB-C connectivity and dual-zone climate control.

Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, manoeuvre braking assist, front AEB, multi-collision brake assist, fatigue detection, seven airbags, a rear-view camera and tyre-pressure monitoring.

Skoda Australia says the Karoq has over $4000 more value than the outgoing car

Stepping to the Karoq Sportline, you receive the same features as the Style plus sports seats, 19-inch alloy wheels, full matrix LED headlights, fog lights with cornering function, stainless steel sports pedals, a multi-function leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, and a blacked-out radiator grille surround, door mirrors, roof rails, window frames and rear diffuser, and piano-black dashboard trim.

For the 110TSI Style, there are several optional packs available.

The Tech pack includes a 9.2-inch satellite navigation system, full Matrix LED headlights, automatic park assist, lane assist, a 360-degree camera and safety features including traffic jam assist, rear cross-traffic alert and emergency assistance. Total cost is $5900.

The Premium pack includes the tech pack plus leather-appointed seat upholstery, electric front seats with memory function, front and rear heated seats, a heat-insulated windscreen and a heated steering wheel. Total cost is $10,900.

For the 140TSI Sportline model, travel, tech and premium packs are available.

The Travel pack includes 9.2-inch satellite navigation display, front and rear heated seats, a heated steering wheel and headlight washers. Total cost is $2600.

The Karoq is available in Style and Sportline trim levels

The Tech pack includes adaptive chassis control, parking/lane-keep/traffic assist, a 360-degree camera and emergency assist. Total cost is $3500.

The Premium pack includes the Travel pack, plus the Tech pack. Total cost is $5900.

A panoramic sunroof ($1900) and side steps ($1200) are also available as other accessories for the Skoda Karoq.

Powertrains and performance

Plenty of option packs are available to customise your Karoq

The Karoq Style features a 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine that is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Style returns an official combined fuel- economy figure of 6.6L/100km.

Stepping up into the Karoq Sportline model, you will receive a more powerful 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Sportline returns a combined fuel-consumption figure of 6.9L/100km.

The Skoda Karoq competes in the midsize SUV class with the likes of the Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson and even the Subaru Forester.
