The ‘Mahindra Thar rival’ will be offered in its 5-door avatar and in 5-seat and 7-seat configurations.
According to a media report, the much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Jimny is expected to be launched in India around mid-2023. It is said that the ‘Mahindra Thar rival’ will be offered in its 5-door avatar.
Maruti Suzuki has already started manufacturing the 3-door Jimny for export markets. However, India will get the 5-door version, which is expected to come in 5-seat and 7-seat configurations.
The report also states that the pre-pilot trial of the 5-door Jimny was supposed to begin this month. But it has now been delayed due to supply constraints. Hence, the pre-pilot trials might start by end of June.
As a result, the pilot trials have been pushed to January 2023, with production set to commence in March or April 2023.
According to the report, Maruti is aiming to produce about 75,000 units in the first year. The SUV is said to have about 70% localization in the first phase.
