purple haze: pramac ducati unveils new motogp livery at mugello

The Pramac Ducati livery of Johann Zarco and Jorge Martin gets a ’purple haze’ from this weekend’s Mugello MotoGP.

A new title sponsorship agreement will see the Pramac Ducati machines, currently ridden by Johann Zarco and Jorge Martin, compete in the revised livery until the end of 2024.

The arrival of Italian insurance agency Prima Assicurazioni will also see the team officially renamed as ‘Prima Pramac Racing’.

“Today starts a new chapter in Pramac Racing history,“ said Pramac CEO Paolo Campinoti. “I am proud to announce here at the Mugello Grand Prix the beginning of an important collaboration between Pramac Racing and Prima Assicurazioni.

“Today, Pramac Racing colours change to bring purple into our history for the first time.

“Prima Pramac Racing will be the name of our team for the next three years, hoping that this can only be the beginning of a great and exciting adventure, we are sure that together we will be very satisfied.

“I thank [Prima CEO] George Ottathycal for believing in this great project together with us.”

Zarco and Martin are among the ten different riders to stand on the MotoGP podium so far this year.

Zarco is currently tied with factory Ducati’s Jack Miller for fifth in the world championship. Martin – who made history with Pramac’s first premier-class win last season and is MotoGP’s top qualifier so far this season – has slipped to 15th after a string of DNFs.

Pramac, which has the latest Desmosedici machinery, is yet to announce any riders for the 2023 MotoGP season.

Martin has made no secret of his desire to move up to the official team, but – as Francesco Bagnaia’s current factory team-mate Jack Miller has admitted – Gresini’s triple race winner Enea Bastianini looks the clear favourite on paper.
