Ola will release its own line of electric scooters on August 15 and will be available in 10 colour options and bookings are still open at Rs 499 (you can cancel and get a refund anytime.) The new electric scooter is designed to promote alternative transportation, as well as give a more environmentally friendly option for shorter trips around town.
With a booking list from over 1000 Indian cities, Ola Electric has the potential to turn heads and make waves in India’s electric automotive market.
Ola has registered model names in India and it appears that the electric scooter is set to be called the ‘Series S’. The company also registered ‘S1’ and ‘S1 Pro’ which will most likely be trim levels.
The top variant could go up to a top speed of 95kmph and have a range of 150km on a single charge. It’s equipped with inbuilt GPS, Bluetooth connectivity and smart-phone integration. The e-scooter comes with Lithium-ion battery technology which offers more energy density, higher safety and longer life.
The Ola scooter can be charged in two ways:
1) Home Charging, using your home-charger in any 5A socket, at your home, workplace or anywhere else.

The electric scooter will be rolled from the factory in Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu and the total project cost is projected at Rs 2,354 crores. Spread across 500 acres, the Ola Futurefactory will be the world’s largest two-wheeler factory – with 10 production lines and a staggering capacity to produce over 10 million scooters per year. With its state-of-the-art technology that focuses on sustainable transportation solutions, it is also being hailed as one of India’s most innovative industries for years to come!
This move by Ola is expected to make e-scooter transportation more convenient for people, especially in cities with inadequate public transportation systems. By providing these mobility options, Ola can further penetrate its offerings into its core market of urban youth and millennials.
The company will also have to face the stiff competition from other companies which are already present in this segment. Companies like Ather Energy, Hero Electric, TVS Motor Company, and Bajaj Auto are already selling e-scooters.
In this scooter segment, Ola is going to have to differentiate its offering with some additional features and services such as a longer range, powerful onboard charger and maintenance which will make its product stand out from others. This will also help it achieve sales quickly compared to the competition.
