mercedes-eq eqb makes its debut in singapore

Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQB here in Singapore.

The EQB is Mercedes-Benz’s fourth EQ all-electric vehicle here in Singapore, following from the EQC, EQA, and more recently, the EQS.

It’s also the first luxury, all-electric seven-seater SUV here in Singapore. The Tesla Model Y, which was launched earlier, is still only available here as a five-seater.

DESIGN DETAILS

The EQB features a blanked-out gloss black grille, alongside headlights with blue-coloured accents. This is mirrored by a full-width light bar at the rear.

Inside the EQB, you’ll find all the familiar Mercedes accents from the rest of the firm’s compact vehicles. These include the use of turbine-inspired air-conditioning vents, along with the impressive dual 10.25-inch displays on the dashboard that serve as the infotainment screen and instrument cluster.

But aft of the first row is where things truly get interesting in the EQB. Passengers in the second row can slide their seats fore or aft by up to 140mm, allowing them to vary between more legroom or luggage space.

Speaking of which, the boot offers 465 litres with the third-row folded, and 1620-litres with the second-row seats knocked down as well. That said, if you don’t need to haul so much cargo, then the EQB will do duty as a seven-seater, with its two third-row seats, which can supposedly seat individuals up to 1.65m tall comfortably.

DRIVETRAINS

The Mercedes-EQ EQB can be had in Singapore with either of two drivetrain options.

The EQB250 utilises a 188hp motor that only drives the front wheels. Said motor also produces 385Nm of torque that propels the car from rest to 100km/h in 8.9 seonds. It is available in Progressive and Electric Art trims.

Buyers who opt for the latter will get their interior finished with rose gold accents on the air-con vents, along with seats upholstered in Mercedes’ Atico and fabric. The SUV will also have the brand’s Advanced speaker system, and be shod with Electric Art 19-inch wheels. Even the key fob will be finished in rose gold.

Buyers seeking greater performance, on the other hand, have the EQB350 4Matic to consider. This model has an electric motor on each axle, enabling all four wheels to transfer power to the road.

The EQB350 is capable of 288hp and 520Nm, and can finish the century sprint in 6.2 seconds, or a second slower than the Mercedes-AMG GLB35. This higher-performance model comes in AMG-Line trim, which adds the AMG body kit, full-leather seats, and AMG floor mats. The EQB350 will also come with 20-inch multi-spoke rims as standard.

BATTERIES AND CHARGING

Both the EQB250 and EQB350 have a 66.5kWh battery that can charge at 11kW via an alternating current source, and 100kW via a direct current charger. The WLTP range for the EQB250 stands at 474km, while the range of the EQB350 is 423km.

Those interested in the Mercedes EQB here in Singapore will also now be able to order and reserve their car online via the online Mercedes-Benz Store. The new online store lets potential customers browse a range of model variants online at their own convenience and comfort.

Buyers will need to place a refundable $500 deposit if they wish to make a booking. Following this, a sales representative will reach out to them to complete the rest of the transaction.

Prices for the EQB250 Progressive start from $305,888, while the EQB250 Electric Art is currently priced at $313,888. The EQB350 4Matic AMG Line, on the other hand, is currently retailing for $352,888.
