Maserati MC20 Cielo.
Following the launch of Maserati’s MC20 “super sports car” is the topless MC20 Cielo roadster.
Cielo means “sky” in Italian, which highlights the fact that this model is devoted to driving with the top down. It is equipped with a folding electrochromic glass roof.
That means the roof can be transformed from clear to opaque at the touch of the button on the central screen. The roof is claimed to be best-in-class in terms of thermal insulation and its opening and closing speed of 12 seconds.
Maserati says the MC20 Cielo provides a “multi-sensory driving experience: all-encompassing with the roof closed and opaque; unique for the in-cabin brightness when the roof is transparent; holistic with the top down.”
Just like the MC20, the MC20 Cielo is powered by the Maserati-developed V6 Nettuno engine, which pumps out 630hp and 730Nm. So, despite weighing 65kg more than the coupe, its power-to-weight ratio is not severely compromised.
Also uncompromised is the car’s styling – designers have kept the model’s signature butterfly doors, which makes ingress and egress relatively easy. It also offers a better view of the carbon fibre-filled cockpit and unmasked front wheels.
SPECIAL TOUCHES
The MC20 Cielo launch version has a new three-layer metallic colour called Acquamarina, which is available as part of the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation programme.
The hue interacts with light and reveals itself in a surprising way. The base is pastel grey – inspired by racing and reminiscent of the MC20’s DNA – and is accompanied by an iridescent aquamarine mica.
In terms of amenities, the MC20 Cielo can be had with an optional High Premium Sonus faber hi-fi system. It has been specifically optimised to fit the acoustic and positioning needs of this spyder’s cabin.
The infotainment is managed using the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system, and Maserati Connect.
With regard to safety, the MC20 Cielo features a wide range of Active Safety Systems. Along with the rear-view camera, parking sensors and blind spot monitors, the Cielo introduces autonomous emergency brake, traffic sign information and a new 360-degree camera.
Tridente Automobili, the official Maserati agent in Singapore, expects the spyder to arrive in early 2023.
