Two years after the introduction of the magnificent new MC20 two-seat supercar, Maserati comes back with an open-top variant called C20 Cielo.
Cielo is the Italian word for sky, and a fitting name for a car that acts as a meeting point between Maserati audacity and the infinite sky, the company says.
The retractable hard top incorporates a state-of-the-art electrochromic glass window that can instantly be transformed from clear to opaque at the touch of a button, courtesy of Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology. The roof opens or closes completely in just 12 seconds.

While preserving the torsional rigidity of the carbon fibre chassis, Maserati engineers did their best to minimize extra weight, resulting in an increase of only 65 kilograms. Similar to the coupe, the MC20 Cielo features butterfly doors.
By the way, the launch model sports a new three-layer metallic colour known as Acquamarina, available as part of the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program.

Inside, the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) multimedia system with Maserati Connect powers the 10.25-inch centre touchscreen. The optional Sonus faber premium audio system has been specifically optimized to fit the unique acoustic and positioning needs of the convertible’s cabin. Meanwhile, safety is improved with the addition of automatic emergency braking, traffic sign information and a new 360-degree camera system.
As for the engine, it’s the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 found in the coupe, producing 621 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Look for 0-100 km/h sprints in 2.9 seconds, according to Maserati.
Canadian pricing has yet to be announced, but you can already configure and reserve your MC20 Cielo on the Maserati Canada website. The lineup will expand in the coming years with an all-electric variant to be called MC20 Folgore. Maserati plans to become an EV-only brand by 2030.
