Mahindra recently broke a series of records with the new Mahindra XUV700. The series of records were broken during the 24 hours Speed Endurance Challenge held at the Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT).
Four Mahindra XUV700s entered the 24 hours Speed Endurance Challenge and broke the previous 24 hours endurance run record as all the four XUV700s that participated clocked over 4000 km.
Out of the four XUV700 that participated, it was the Mahindra XUV700 diesel equipped with a manual transmission that clocked the highest distance by covering 4384.73 km. Next to that was the Mahindra XUV700 diesel with an automatic transmission, which covered a total of 4256.12km.
On the other hand, the petrol-powered Mahindra XUV700 with manual transmission covered a total distance of 4232.01 km, whereas the automatic transmission-equipped variant of the XUV700 with petrol engine covered 4155.65 km.
Apart from that, the four Mahindra XUV700s maintained an average speed of 170 kmph to 180 kmph at the MSPT. This was made possible by only stopping the vehicles during fuel refill and driver changes.
“The XUV700 was conceptualised, developed and built to a very high endurance standard and as expected it fared extremely well in this gruelling challenge. We are proud that the XUV700 has set new benchmarks for endurance and set new national records. It is interesting to note that this achievement came at our very own world-class MSPT” said Mr Velusamy R, Chief of Global Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
Apart from that, the records set were validated by the India Book of Records and conducted under the watchful eyes of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI).
The Mahindra XUV700 comes with a choice of one petrol engine and two diesel engines and gearbox options include a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 197 bhp. Both the diesel engines are 2.2-litre turbocharged units and the more powerful version pumps out 182 bhp, whereas the diesel engine used in the lower variants puts out a respectable 153 bhp.
Safety is of utmost importance for such gruesome record runs and Mahindra hasn’t skimped on any safety features to price the XUV700 aggressively and the new Mahindra XUV700 comes with a whole suite of safety features.
The new Mahindra XUV700 comes with advanced safety features such as seven airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The ADAS is an active safety feature and includes features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assistance, emergency braking and a few more.
Also, Mahindra has loaded the new XUV700 with many features such as dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake, wireless charging, a multi-function flat-bottom steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, powered front seats with memory function, drive modes and a few more.
Prices for the Mahindra XUV700 start from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base 5-seater MX petrol variant equipped with manual transmission. However, the top-end AX7(O) diesel XUV700 equipped with automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive is priced at Rs 21.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
