Not all SUVs are created equal, especially when it comes to safe luxury vehicles. These are some luxury SUVs with the best safety packages, some of which are just the base trim. Keep in mind these Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) might be called something different from one brand to another. Many times the purpose of the system can be inferred by the name.

The Audi e-tron/e-tron Sportback is a luxury SUV with the best safety packages

The Audi e-tron SUV in white | Audi

Buyers of the 2022 Audi e-tron/e-tron Sportback know this luxury SUV has much to offer. Kelley Blue Book says the Sportback version of this Audi EV is $3,200 more than the standard trim, but both have the same safety features. Audi equips both with all-wheel drive standard and automatic headlights, LED taillights, and heated mirrors. The base trim, called Premium, also comes with eight airbags.

Forward collision warning (FCW), automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane-keeping assist (LKA), and blind-spot monitoring (BSM) are included in the Audi safety package. Rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA) and parking assist are other features. The Convenience Plus Package with adaptive cruise control (ACC) adds steering assist and a surround-view camera for $3,500. If you want rear-seat side-impact airbags, that’s another $400. Still not a bad deal for a luxury SUV with the best safety packages.

Best Safety Value: $69,800 (Premium + options)

Base Price: $65,900 | Expert Rating: 3.6

The Genesis GV80 is another luxury SUV with the best safety packages

Buyers of the 2022 Genesis GV80 can elect for two or three rows. While it is considered a luxury SUV, the base price of $50,200 gets many safety features for an entry-level price. The 2.5T Standard is the base trim that comes with auto lights, high beam assist, and 10 airbags. It also has auto-dimming lights, rain sensor wipers, and adaptive cruise control.

Beyond that, FCW, AEB, LKA, and junction-turning assist (JTA) are included on the base trim. BWM, RCTA, and brake assist are standard safety features that Genesis equipped the GV80 with. The Prestige Package will run you $9,400 and is the only other option for more safety features. It comes with various luxury offerings like remote start parking assist, but you don’t really need it as the GV80 is already a safe luxury SUV.

Best Safety Value: $50,200 (2.5T Standard)

Base Price: $50,200 | Expert Rating: 4.8

Mercedes-Benz makes the GLE-Class one of the safer options on the road

Mercedes-Benz's popular GLE range is unchanged for 2022, though a couple of option packages are unavailable. #MercedesAMG #MercedesBenz #News #SWMFeed #2022MercedesBenzGLE #MercedesAMGGLE #MercedesBenzGle #Pricing #PricingAndSpecshttps://t.co/mnS4FRyZ7F

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class came with a lot of options from the factory. The base-level trim comes with automatic headlights, LED taillights, and integrated turn signals. Mercedes equipped the GLE 350 with an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, and high-beam assist. The advanced safety and driver-aid technologies include park assist, hands-free park assist, and BSM. FCW and driver monitoring system (DSM) are also part of that.

Buyers can add the Driver Assistance Package Plus for $1,950, which adds many extra features. RCTA, BSM, LCA, LKA, and more. The Premium Package is $1,375 and adds a surround-view camera and other small items. As far as safety goes, none of the higher trim levels offer much more.

Best Safety Value: $59,475 (GLE 350 + Driver Assistance and Premium Pkgs)

Base Price: $56,150 | Expert Rating: 4.3

The Volvo C40 Recharge has the best safety packages

The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge doesn’t need much added, safety-wise. You can only buy the C40 Recharge online and it is Volvo’s first full EV. Due to that, the C40 Recharge only comes in the Ultimate trim. That’s all you need, though. It comes with adaptive headlights, high-beam assist, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Volvo has all of the best safety packages already included with the Ultimate. Forward collision alert (FCA), AEB, ACC, and LKA are standard. The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge also got lane departure warning (LDW), DSM, BSM, and RCTA with emergency braking. Volvo has front/rear parking assist, traffic sign recognition, and surround sound cameras as standard additions. Volvo vehicles are known for being safe luxury SUVs and the Recharge is no exception.

Best Safety Value: $58,750 (Ultimate)

Base Price: $58,750 | Expert Rating: 4.5

It can be confusing to know what safety systems are called across all of the brands, but this might be standardized in the future. For now, you can always look at the automaker’s website for more information. It will likely list the safety features included in the different trim levels of the luxury SUVs.
