Kia Motors is currently one of the fastest-growing passenger vehicle manufacturers in India. The South Korean automaker currently sells 5 products in India – KiaSonet, Kia Seltos, Kia Carens, Kia Carnival, and Kia EV6.
Out of these models, the Kia EV6 is an electric vehicle and it is a fully-imported vehicle, whereas the Kia Carnival is a premium MUV. This makes the Kia Sonet, Kia Seltos, and the newly launched Kia Carens its mass-market products.
Thanks to consistent sales performance from these models, Kia Motors sold a total of 22,322 units in August 2022 alone. This has resulted in a YoY sales increase of almost 49 per cent as the company had sold just 15,016 units in August 2021.
In comparison, MoM sales figures remain rather consistent with a 1.3 per cent increase in MoM sales figures as the company had sold 22,022 units in July 2022 – Which is just 300 units less than last month.
Kia Seltos (8,652 units)
Coming to individual sales figures, the Kia Seltos continues to be the favourite Kia model in India with August 2022 sales standing at 8,652 units. This has resulted in a marginal 0.3 per cent increase in YoY sales figures.
Moreover, MoM sales figures also remained consistent as the company had managed to sell 8,451 units in July 2022.
Kia Sonet (7,838 units)
Kia Sonet is a sub-4m SUV and the model has been a very consistent seller for Kia Motors in India. In August 2022, Kia India sold 7,838 units of Kia Sonet SUVs in India, resulting in a 1.1 per cent increase in YoY sales figures.
On the other hand, the Kia Sonet sold 7,215 units in July 2022 and has resulted in a decent increase in MoM sales figures at almost 9 per cent.

Kia Carens (5,558 units)
Kia launched the Kia Carens with very aggressive pricing and the model quickly gained a lot of traction in the Indian market. Unlike the Hyundai Alcazar, the Kia Carens is a MUV and it is not the SUV version of the Kia Seltos.
In August 2022, Kia India sold 5,558 units of Kia Carens MUV in India, resulting in a 7 per cent decline in sales as the company had previously managed to sell 420 units more (July 2022).
Kia Carnival (274 units)
The Kia Carnival is a premium MUV and the South Korean automaker sold 274 units of this premium MUV in August 2022. This has resulted in a 28 per cent decline in YoY sales as the company had previously sold 379 units in August 2021.
In terms of MoM sales figures, Kia India had sold 288 units of Kia Carnival premium MUV in India, resulting in an almost 5 per cent decline in MoM sales.
Kia EV6 (0 units)
Kia EV6 is a premium electric vehicle and it is brought to India in limited numbers only and all units brought to India have already been sold out. In July 2022, Kia sold 90 units of Kia EV6 EVs in India.
