South Korean carmaker Kia will launch the all-electric EV6 crossover SUV on the 2nd of June 2022. Ahead of the launch of the new Kia EV6, the South Korean carmaker has opened bookings for the electric SUV.
Kia EV6 India Booking Amount & Variants
Prospective owners can now book their Kia EV6 for a token amount of Rs 3 lakh. The Kia EV6 for India will only be offered in the top-spec GT-Line trim level which will be offered in both single motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive configurations.
Kia EV6 Battery Capacity, Motor, Top Speed & Range
All versions of the Kia EV6 for India will be powered by a 78.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack. In rear-wheel drive (RWD) guise, the battery pack powers a single motor setup connected to the rear wheel which produces 225bhp and 350Nm of peak torque.
The RWD Kia EV6 GT Line sprints from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds and continues to accelerate to a limited top speed of 183km/h. The rear-wheel drive Kia EV6 GT-Line offers a range of 528 kilometres on a single charge.
The all-wheel drive (AWD) version of the Kia GT-Line adds another motor at the front axle which bumps the power figure to 321bhp and the peak torque to 605Nm.
The Kia EV6 GT-Line (AWD) to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds though the top speed is still capped at 183km/h. The all-wheel drive version of the Kia EV6 GT-Line has a range of 505km.
Kia EV6 Charging Speeds & Time
The Kia EV6 is based on the Hyundai Group’s E-GMP platform which features an 800V charging architecture. This means that the Kia EV6 can charge at speeds of up to 350kW. When plugged into a 350kW charger, the Kia EV6 can charge its larger 78.4kWh battery pack from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes.
The Kia EV6 also supports 50kW DC fast charging, which is the most common fast charging option currently available in India. When plugged into a 50kW charging station, the EV6’s battery pack will go from 10 to 80 per cent in 73 minutes.
Kia EV6 Safety
The Kia EV6 GT-Line was recently put to the test by Australasian NCAP where it earned a 5-star safety rating. The Kia EV6 also earned the same rating in the Euro NCAP tests.
The electric EV6 SUV from Kia comes packed with features including 8 airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD and a host of advanced driver aids like lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control and forward-collision assist among others.

The Kia EV6 will be the South Korean carmaker’s top of the line offering for the Indian market.
