An investment with the future in mind
Hyundai has made it a big goal to create remarkable new electric vehicles. They have invested heavily in manufacturing reliable electric models in the past few years. Hyundai realized that it was time to build a dedicated factory that would focus solely on electric vehicles.
Hyundai’s commitment to the future and electric vehicles is evident in this announcement. According to Hyundai, this plant will manufacture 300,000 models every year. Additionally, by 2028 they expect to be building six models at this factory.

While we don’t know which models Hyundai will produce here, we can expect a selection of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models. Overall it can be expected that there will be some market-shifting innovations coming out of this factory.
One of the most exciting possibilities of this announcement is that consumers can get ready for new models to hit the lot once production starts. Namely, we can expect Hyundai will build the upcoming Genesis GV60, an electric Hyundai sedan, and an electric Genesis G80 here. Those models should hit the market before this plant is operating. Production will shift to the plant once the plant is up and running.

Aside from producing 300,000 electric vehicles constantly, there are also plans to have a different plant in the same location to manufacture batteries. This will help Hyundai have batteries for their designed electric vehicles and create a supply chain to benefit all automakers.
Several battery manufacturers are around the southeast U.S., and this announcement further hammers home the commitment to EVs in the southeastern U.S.
