high impact accidents cause front fork failure, isolated: ola issues statement over suspension failure incidents
The image was tweeted by an Ola S1 Pro owner

Ola Electric’s S1 Pro was recently under scrutiny once again over multiple incidents of suspension failure. Several customers reported that the front fork of the electric scooter would break on impact. With the incidents further adding to the number of problems plaguing the Ola scooter, the company has now issued a statement over the same. Ola Electric said that the suspension failure incidents were due to “high-impact accidents” and were isolated in nature. The two-wheeler maker iterated that vehicle safety and quality standards are of paramount importance.

@OlaElectric @bhash
The front fork is breaking even in small speed driving and it is a serious and dangerous thing we are facing now, we would like to request that we need a replacement or design change on that part and save our life from a road accident due to poor material usd pic.twitter.com/cgVQwRoN5t

Ola’s statement read, “Vehicle safety & quality standards are of paramount importance at Ola. Ola today has more than 50,000 scooters on the road. So far, our scooters have travelled over 45 million cumulative km on Indian roads. The recently reported incidents of front fork breakage are due to isolated high impact accidents. All our scooters undergo rigorous quality and performance assessment across different terrains and riding conditions in India.”

The suspension failure incidents were highlighted by owners who took to Twitter to report about their problems. The first incident was reported by a Sreenadh Menon who shared an image of the broken front fork. Another user shared their experience of the front fork reportedly breaking after the scooter hit a wall at 25 kmph. Other users too shared images of the broken front suspension. carandbike cannot corroborate when, where and how these incidents took place.

However, the suspension failure is one of the many reasons that has kept the Ola S1 Pro in the news in recent times. The S1 Pro owners previously also complained about software glitches, issues with the plastic quality, inconsistent range, breakdowns and more. The more infamous issue has been the fire incidents though.

While Ola did not specify the same in its statement, sources close to the company have told carandbike that the company is internally investigating the suspension failure accidents.
