Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch resume its production operations in the country. The company had decided to halt the production operation in wake of the second wave of Covid-19 virus spread in the country.

However, as the case curve flattens in the country, the two-wheeler manufacture is looking to resume operations in a staggered manner. The company will restart production with a single shift at three of its plants in Gurugram Haryana and Uttarakhand from Monday.

The operations across various Hero MotoCorp facilities in India were first halted between April 22, and May 1, 2021. However, the deadline was extended for the second time to May 16 due to the continued threat from the spread of Coronavirus.

The Company will continue to monitor the situation closely to restart the remaining manufacturing plants and other facilities will also open up gradually. The company has also issued strict safety and hygiene guidelines for the restart of operations.

Safeguarding its employees, the company has also stated that more than 90% of Hero MotoCorp employees above the age of 45 have already been vaccinated. In addition to producing for the domestic market in India, these plants will also have an enhanced focus on catering to the Global Business (GB) markets across the world.

While all Hero corporate offices will continue to operate with employees working from home. The company will be allowing very limited staff to offices on a rotation basis for the continuity of essential services.

During the initial announcement of the suspension of operation, the company stated its plans for loss of production numbers and non-operational days. Hero MotoCrop stated that it will utilize non-working days for maintenance across all of its plants in the country.

As for the loss of production, the automaker also stated the shutdown will not impact the company’s ability to meet the demand. The loss in production will be compensated during the remainder of the quarter. However, due to the extension after the initial announcement, we expect that the impact could be slightly more.

With over 20 non-prodcution days, the company is looking to resume operations to maintain an adequate supply. The restart procedure will be carried out in a staggered manner to help with the social distancing of its workforce.
