We can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor, scheduled to go on sale later this summer, especially now that the power numbers are carved in stone.
Ford originally teased that it would be “more than 400 horsepower,” but Jim Farley, the company’s CEO, took to Twitter to give the official rating of 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. This high-performance version of the Bronco is inspired by Ultra4 Racing and is meant for “highway-speed desert-dune conquering and Baja rock-crawling,” according to Ford.

The Bronco Raptor will use a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 borrowed from the Explorer ST but retuned for the extra power. That grunt will go through a ten-speed automatic transmission, down to a race-ready suspension and 37-inch all-terrain tires. It will be 249 mm wider than a base Bronco four-door for more stability when cornering, and with styling accents from the F-150 Raptor pickup — and from the midsize Ranger Raptor, which has bypassed our shores in favour of other global markets. Other features will include heavy-duty skid plates, reinforced B- and C-pillars, a fully-boxed steel frame, and shock towers that provide increased wheel travel.
In Canada, the Bronco Raptor will start at $99,995, with the first ones going to those who placed a reservation earlier this year.
