Buying an electric car charger has become a bit easier today, as Wallbox announces its official expansion into Canada, which should bring it with more support and availability.
This means you’ll soon be able to jump onto the Best Buy website and order yourself a new 40- or 48-amp Wallbox Pulsar Plus charger – the company’s best-selling 240V charger – for your home. The Pulsar Plus unit works with every EV on the market, though Tesla users will need an adapter, and is small and discreet-looking. It also includes features like Bluetooth and WiFI connectivity, so you can manage and monitor your charging from a smartphone or digital assistant. Pricing starts at $924.99 at Best Buy for the 40-amp version; while the 48-amp version costs $999.99.
Beyond the availability at Best Buy Stores, Wallbox will also open a new warehouse in Mississauga, Ontario, which should help with the logistics associated with supporting the Canadian market. This location is expected to provide warehousing, inventory management, and transportation services for the Canadian market.
Additionally, Wallbox has partnered with Uber in Canada to help the rideshare company transition to EVs. This means that Uber drivers across the country will be able to get a discounted Wallbox package, which includes the Pulsar Plus and installation service.
All this news comes on the heels of the company’s recent announcement of U.S. expansions and facilities. The company announced a new warehouse in Burlington, North Carolina to service U.S. customers; as well as an EV charger manufacturing facility in Arlington, Texas. The goal for that 130,000 square-foot plant is to manufacture over 250,000 units in 2022; and over 500,000 by 2025.
Those are ambitious goals, and proper support in Canada will be needed to reach those numbers. Having partners like Best Buy and Uber certainly doesn’t hurt either.
