There is no denying that electric vehicles are the future. Where there are still three electric cars available in the Indian market, not many people are buying them because of the higher price tag. For instance, the most affordable electric car is the Tata Nexon EV that starts from Rs. 13.99 lakhs ex-showroom. India is more of a two-wheeler market, especially after coronavirus pandemic, people are travelling via their personal vehicle rather than using public transport. There are some electric scooters in the Indian market, but now there are electric motorcycles available too. Today we list all the electric motorcycles that are on sale in the Indian market or will soon be launching.
Emflux ONE
Consider Emflux One to be the first electric superbike of India. Emflux is a Bengaluru-based startup working on a fully-faired electric motorcycle which will be competing with more powerful superbikes that are available in India. The Emflux One will be their first product that will be launched in India. It will be powered by a 9.7 kW battery that will power a liquid-cooled motor that could produce a max peak power output of 60 kW(limited to 53 kW). The battery could be recharged up to 80 percent in just 36 minutes when you are using Emflux’s WARP charger, whereas the regular wall charger will take 3 hours. The power output of the Emflux One is 71 hp and a max peak torque output of 75 Nm. The motorcycle can hit an impressive top speed of 200 kmph and it can hit a ton in just 3 seconds. The claimed city range is 200 km whereas the highway range is 150 km when driven at 80 kmph. Currently, the launch date of the Emflux One has not been shared. However, there are rumours that the Emflux One might cost around Rs. 5 lakhs ex-showroom.
Revolt RV400 and RV300
Revolt was the first manufacturer to launch the electric motorcycles in India. It is led by the co-founder of Micromax Informatics, Rahul Sharma. They launched the RV300 at a subscription price of Rs. 3,174 per month and RV400 at Rs. 4,399 per month. The motorcycles are currently offered in 6 cities, namely Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai. Both the motorcycles get front and rear disc brakes, all LED lighting, upside-down front forks and adjustable mono-shock at the rear. The RV300 can hit a top speed of 65 kmph in Sports mode, but that decreases the range to just 80 km. Whereas in Normal mode, the range is 110 km and top speed is 45 kmph. In Eco mode, the top speed is 20 kmph and the range is 180 km. The RV300 gets a 1.5 kW motor, whereas the RV400 gets a 3 kW motor. Due to this, the top speed of RV400 in Sports mode is 85 kmph but the range is 80 km. In Normal mode, the range is 100 km and the top speed is 65 kmph whereas in Eco mode the top speed is limited to 45 kmph and the range is 150 km.
Kabira KM 4000 and KM3000
Kabira Mobility is working on two new electric motorcycles for India. The motorcycles are expected to get launched in February 2021. The pre-bookings for the motorcycle are already open. The motorcycles were spotted on test in Goa a few days back. The KM4000 will be a naked motorcycle, whereas the KM3000 will be a fully-faired motorcycle. Both the motorcycles will come with park assist, fireproof battery, roadside assistance(RSA), fast charging and combi-brakes. The motorcycles will have a range of 150 km on a single charge. The top speed of the motorcycles will be of 120 kmph. The motorcycles have been in development for more than 2 years. We should soon be able to get the price of the motorcycles once they get launched in February 2021.
Ultraviolette F77
Ultraviolette is one of the manufacturers that were able to generate a lot of hype around its F77 electric motorcycle. The manufacturer says that the bike is inspired by a fighter jet. The riding posture of the motorcycle is aggressive with low set handlebars and rear-set footpegs. The motorcycle was supposed to enter the production stage by October 2020 but because of the pandemic that did not happen. However, Ultraviolette did release a video of F77 being tested. The motorcycle can hit 60 kmph in just 2.9 seconds and 100 kmph in 7.5 seconds. The electric motor produces a max power output of 33.5 hp and a peak torque output of 90 Nm. The top speed of the F77 is 147 kmph. The 4.2 kWh battery can deliver a range of around 130 to 150 km on a single charge. The fast charger can charge the battery in 1.5 hours whereas the standard wall charger will take 5 hours. It will come with three riding modes namely Eco, Sport and Insane. Ultraviolette will also offer connected features through integrated eSIM. The motorcycle should launch sometime this year and it should be priced around Rs. 3 lakhs ex-showroom.
One Electric Kridn
One like other electric motorcycles, One Electric has started the delivery of its Kridn electric motorcycle in Hyderabad and Bangalore. Deliveries in Tamil Nadu and Kerala are also expected to start from this month, which will be followed by Delhi NCR and Maharashtra. The motorcycle has a top speed of 95 kmph and it has two riding modes. In Eco mode, the range is more than 110 km, whereas in Normal mode the range is 80 km. The Kridn can hit 60 kmph in 8 seconds, thanks to its 160 Nm of peak torque. The battery capacity is of 3 kWh, which should be able to charge in 4 to 5 hours. The motorcycle is developed in India with over 80 percent parts that are localised. The motorcycle has been priced at Rs. 1.29 lakhs ex-showroom.
SVM Prana Electric
SVM or Sri Varu Motors have launched their Prana electric motorcycle in two variants currently. There is the Grand and the Elite. The Grand variant is priced at Rs. 2 lakhs whereas the Elite retails for Rs. 3 lakhs. However, you get a Rs 25,000 SVMCSR Green credit. The booking price for both the variants is Rs. 2,000. The deliveries of the motorcycle are expected to start from March 2021 onwards. The Grand has a battery capacity of 4.32 kW whereas the Elite gets a 7.2 kW battery pack. The range of the Grand variant is 126 km and charging time is 4 hours 15 minutes, whereas the Elite gets a range of 225 km and charging time of 6 hours and 30 minutes. There are 4 riding modes namely Practise mode where the max speed is limited to 45 kmph and the acceleration is smooth, Drive mode where the max speed is 123 kmph and the acceleration is smooth. Then there is Sports mode with a top speed of 123 kmph and torque is aggressive due to which the acceleration is faster. There is also a reverse mode which helps in reversing the motorcycle with speed limited to 5 kmph. The motorcycle can hit 60 kmph in just 4 seconds and it weighs 165 kg.
