Idaho State Police are already saying no to the new Charger EVs, a Mustang takes a guy’s pants off, a BMW flies off a bridge, only to land on a Corvette, and a Bugatti driver is attacked by not for his car. Plus, Apple gets hoodwinked for its trade secrets, again, and our inventory picks of the week. Watch here:

Idaho State Police Aren’t Good With The Electric Dodge Charger

When Dodge executives decided to transition away from gasoline-powered Chargers, they might not have stopped to consider how law enforcement agencies might react. While some in the Bay Area might buy a few to get applause from the public, more will likely have the same reaction as Idaho State Police, which is looking to move from the Dodge brand to something else.

Idaho State Police do use the Ford Explorer and F-Series, but the Dodge Charger has been its mainstay. While it’s possible it will switch to all crossovers and pickup trucks, there’s a good chance the agency will find an alternative sedan to the Charger.

Street Shutdown Participant Pantsed By A Mustang

Street takeovers are all about throwing caution to the wind and sticking it to authority, but sometimes that recklessness costs participants big. Case in point: a guy who was close to the action during a takeover event in Sacramento, California was not only run over by a Ford Mustang as he tried filming right next to the car turning smokey donuts, the rear drive wheels pantsed him right in front of the crowd.

If you’ve watched many videos of street takeovers, which we unfortunately have, you know behavior at these events is shockingly juvenile. Spectators will often laugh and jeer when cars crash and don’t seem very phased if a vehicle veers into a crowd as long as they aren’t hurt. That said, this is by far the most hilarious thing we’ve seen at a street takeover.

BMW Flies Off Bridge, Lands On Corvette

amazon, cops aren’t planning to drive ev chargers, guy is pantsed by a mustang, and a bmw lands on a corvette

Is this not the most appropriate news story you could find on Motorious? The only thing that would make it better is if a stolen Hellcat somehow ended up in the mix, but we’re talking one in a billion odds on that one, so here’s the one in a million incident of the week. As shared on social media by Franklin Fire – Rescue from Franklin County, NC, this was one of their weirder calls they’ve gotten in a while.

It was after the fire crews extinguished the fire when the full scope of the accident was made clear. The man in the Corvette, a convertible, with the top down at that, was fine. He was able to get out of the ‘Vette as the BMW had actually fallen just perfectly into the passenger side of the car. As for the BMW driver, they were flown away from the scene in stable condition.

Thieves On Scooters Attack $4.8 Million Bugatti In Traffic

amazon, cops aren’t planning to drive ev chargers, guy is pantsed by a mustang, and a bmw lands on a corvette

A video has emerged on social media, making its rounds, of a group of scooter riders, dressed as food delivery people, wielding hammers and smashing up a Bugatti. The hypercar was sitting in London traffic when it was stalked and targeted in broad daylight. In an attempt to attack the driver by smashing up the windows with hammers, the scooter gang relentlessly smashed up the Bugatti with hammers.

Kuwaiti businessman Abdullah Al Basman owns the Chiron, which is striking in a royal blue coat with orange highlights. Powering the under siege supercar is a 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, with a 0-62 mph of 2.4-seconds and top speed of almost 250 mph, but none of that helped the driver while stuck in gridlock.

It appears that this is a brazen car jacking in the middle of the day, but that’s not exactly what the scooter patrol is after. The scooter gang wasn’t actually after the car itself, but the $200K Platinum Rolex Daytona watch he was wearing. It’s said that every person in this video made it out okay, but the Bugatti definitely needs some new glass; it was probably the most expensive window broken that day.

Engineer Steals Apple Car Trade Secrets For China

Xiaolang Zhang, a former Apple employee, recently plead guilty in a San Jose court to stealing trade secrets about the Apple Car program. According to a report from Fortune, Zhang was apprehended at San Jose airport on his way to China. His intent was to go work for Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology, also called Xpeng, a Chinese EV startup financially backed by Amazon competitor Alibaba.

This legal case does reveal the Apple Car project is still alive and well. Zhang worked on designing and testing circuit boards for the self-driving vehicle from December 2015 to May 2018. However, in April 2018 after returning from paternity leave, he asked for time off to take an extended trip to China to see his ailing mother. At the same time, the guy dropped the bomb on Apple that he planned on working for Xpeng, which of course didn’t sound super suspicious or anything.

Apple, which is notoriously secretive about product development, had its security team start digging into Zhang activities. They found the man transferred 24GB of “highly problematic” data to his wife’s laptop. Among that data was a 25-page document containing schematics of a circuit board to be used in the Apple Car.
