BMW i4 India Specs & Range

The BMW is only offering the new i4 for the Indian market in the eDrive40 Sport guise. The BMW i4 eDrive40 is powered by a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels.

The BMW i4’s electric motor produces 335bhp and 430Nm of peak torque. This allows the BMW i4 eDrive Sport to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.7 seconds and the electric sedan will continue to accelerate till it tops out at 190km/h.

Providing the electrons to the new i4’s motor is an 83.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack that allows the i4 to deliver a range of 590 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. This means that the BMW i4 eDrive40 Sport has the longest range of any electric car currently sold in India.

The BMW i4’s battery pack supports 11kW AC charging which can charge up the lithium-ion pack from 0 to 100 per cent in 8.25 hours. When connected to a 50kW DC fast charger the new i4 can charge its battery pack from 10 to 80 per cent in just 83 minutes. This allows it to add 100 kilometres of range after just 18 minutes of charging.

In terms of the overall design, the i4 looks quite a lot like the 4-Series coupe sold in international markets. The front-end features the large BMW kidney grilles which are blocked off for the i4 due to the lower cooling requirements of the electric sedan. The i4 rides on 17-inch bi-colour alloy wheels that are shod with 225/55 R17 tyres.

The BMW i4 gets a 12.3-inch driver’s display and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Support. The infotainment display is connected to a 17 speaker Harmon Kardon surround sound system and also acts as a display for the reversing camera.
