Aston Martin has always been associated with James Bond but funnily enough in the last film featuring Agent 007, he was seen driving in a humdrum Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Perhaps Aston’s own SUV isn’t good enough for him then?
Well, the British ultraluxury carmaker listened and introduced the , a major upgrade from the regular DBX SUV. The three digits at the end of the name give a clue to just how potent this behemoth is.
Powering the hand-built DBX range-topper is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that generates 707 PS and 900 Nm. Those figures are 157 PS and 200 Nm higher than the standard DBX and in turn, make the DBX707 as the world’s most powerful luxury SUV.
Paired to a 9-speed automatic wet clutch transmission, the DBX707 is fitted with an electronic limited-slip rear differential (e-diff) for the first time in the DBX. The e-diff has been strengthened to handle the full 900 Nm of torque.
Being the most powerful luxury SUV in the world, 0-100 km/h is done and dusted in 3.3 seconds while it has a top speed of 310 km/h. Besides the GT Sport and Sport+ driving modes, the DBX707 now has Race Start mode which gives drivers the full experience of its unrivalled off-the-line acceleration.
Helping the beast stay in the corners is the revamped air suspension system which features a new damper valving with recalibrated dynamic spring volume matching for improved body control and electronic power steering response.
Visually, the DBX707 shows off its grunt with a larger front grille, new air intakes, a rear roof wing, twin rear diffusers, and a quad-exhaust system.
Though it keeps the Aston DNA intact in performance and looks, the DBX707 is still a luxury SUV with soft-close doors, piano black veneer trims, and carbon fibre finishes. If these aren’t luxurious enough, the SUV is also offered with Q by Aston Martin bespoke personalization services.
The DBX707 just made its ASEAN debut in Malaysia and Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur lists the powerful SUV with a starting price of RM 1,098,000 excluding duties, taxes, options, and customisations. The model shown to the media is listed at around RM 1.5 million without tax.
The Aston Martin DBX707 is offered with an optional extended warranty of up to 20 years of coverage so any Malaysian Bond/Aston aficionado can have complete peace of mind for their beast of an SUV.
