Aiways was the first Chinese EV start-up to successfully export vehicles to Europe; now on sale in 14 European countries, plus Israel

Shanghai-based personal mobility provider Aiways is proudly celebrating two years of exports of its battery-electric U5 SUV, on sale in a very challenging time for the global car business. The company is now active in 14 major European markets and Israel, with the most recent additions being Croatia, Latvia, the Faroe Islands, and Slovenia. Aiways will accelerate its growth through the launch of one new model a year, beginning with the new U6 SUV-Coupé later in 2022.

Aiways is an emerging brand attracting a younger, tech-savvy generation to future-oriented e-mobility. The recently upgraded Aiways app makes interacting with the Aiways U5 SUV more convenient and accessible with easily navigation to important features such as vehicle health, charge status and range radius at the touch of a screen.

In February 2022, Aiways successfully launched a new global digital campaign entitled ‘Your Way. Just electric’, promoting electric mobility products that perfectly fit an active lifestyle. Aiways prides itself on its unique blend of smart technology, styling with diverse global influences, high manufacturing quality, and affordable price.

Aiways owes its blooming sales figures and growing brand awareness to its innovative direct-to-customer sales model which facilitates its rapid expansion into new markets. To support its customers, Aiways has established a network of trained experts in each market to provide a robust aftersales service when needed.

Starting the year on a high, Aiways established a new management structure with highly experienced talent and secured additional funding to drive international growth. This investment will speed up the development of the brand’s digital capabilities to drive sales of the U5 SUV within existing and new markets.

Dr Alexander Klose, Executive Vice President of Overseas Operations at Aiways, commented: “We have spent the past two years successfully establishing the Aiways name across Europe, and now our brand is even better known in the highly competitive European market than it is in China. We will now accelerate our plans to establish new relationships in the technology and lifestyle sectors that will further strengthen the appeal of our brand and our characterful products among discerning European customers.”

This month also marks five years of Aiways U5 SUV production in Shangrao, China. The remarkable, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is set to produce Aiways’ second battery-electric vehicle, the U6 SUV-Coupé, which will arrive in Europe during the autumn of 2022. With its sporty presence, the new model will appeal to new and existing Aiways customers looking to cultivate an active lifestyle in 2022.

With its expanding model lineup of tech-savvy, design-led, affordable EVs, Aiways will occupy an unmatched position in the European EV market, which it hopes will boost sales to touch five figures by the end of 2022. This bold claim is backed by market demand which has already exceeded 20,000 proactive order requests from the markets without any active marketing from Aiways.

Before the Aiways U6 SUV-Coupé joins the lineup, the existing U5 SUV will receive a model year update to refresh its appeal and modernize its looks in line with current trends. The upgraded model will benefit from 11kW three-phase charging capabilities. The Aiways U5 SUV 63kWh battery pack can charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 35 minutes, with the fully charged entry-level XCITE model providing 410km of electric-only driving range (400km for the PRIME model).

Further additions for the 2022 model-year Aiways U5 SUV include new customization options such as adding a black roof and introducing an on-trend new gray body color. Prices for the revamped Aiways U5 SUV start at an accessible €33,325 in Germany plus country-specific taxes.
