The 2022 Kia Sorento is one of the best midsize SUVs out there and it’s also one of the cheapest. If you’re looking for a great sport utility vehicle that offers a lot of great features and safety ratings, then the Sorento might be just what you’re looking for. Here are three reasons why the 2022 Kia Sorento is a good SUV, and two why you might want to think twice.

android, 3 reasons the 2022 kia sorento is awesome (and 2 why it isn’t)

2022 Kia Sorento SX | Kia

The 2022 Kia Sorento is a good SUV at a great price

The 2022 Kia Sorento base model costs $29,490. This is called the LX. This comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The Sorento engine makes 191 hp, 181 lb-ft of torque, and is matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Sorento has lots of great features

The 2022 Kia Sorento comes with lots of great features such as LED headlights, heated mirrors, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. You have a lot of seat options in the 2022 Kia Sorento interior as well. The second row is a 60/40 split-folding bench seat. In the third row, there are two split-folding seats. The 2022 Kia Sorento LX comes with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen and a six-speaker sound system. You can use both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the 2022 Kia Sorento LX.

The Sorento S has a10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen instead of the 8-inch screen. However, you do lose Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with this trim level. The 2022 Kia Sorento S also comes with 18-inch wheels, remote engine start, and black exterior trim. You’ll also get roof rails, simulated leather upholstery, and heated front seats.

The Sorento is an IIHS Top Safety Pick

The 2022 Kia Sorento takes home the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award. The non-profit organization’s second-highest award is given to vehicles with good crashworthiness scores, advanced or superior ratings for available front crash prevention, and acceptable or good headlights available. Of course, you’ll want to make sure that the specific model you choose meets all of the criteria to be an award winner.

The Sorento has poor headlights

The 2022 Kia Sorento has poor headlights. There are three trim levels that have poor headlights. These include the 2022 Kia Sorento LX, the S, and the EX trim. Other than that, the Kia Sorento has largely good safety ratings.

The 3rd row is kind of tight

One of the biggest problems with the 2022 Kia Sorento is its third-row seat. While the Kia Sorento is overall a pretty great SUV, its third-row leaves something to be desired. In fact, getting in and out of the third row is one of the three main problems that current owners complained about during the first 90 days of ownership.

Overall, the 2022 Kia Sorento is a good SUV. It isn’t perfect, but it has a lot going for it. If you’re in the market for a midsize sport utility vehicle with a lot of great features, you might love the 2022 Sorento.
