  • Twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 (M550i): 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque 
  • Twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 (M5): 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque 
  • Twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 (M5 Competition): 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque 
  • Twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 (M5 CS): 627 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque 

All of the engines for the BMW 5 Series are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also, the 5 Series offers luxury car buyers the choice of a rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive system.
