The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 | Hyundai

It’s tough to think of an electric vehicle that had a better year than the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 won the World Car of the Year award. It had a stellar sales year as well. Many automotive publications consider the electric SUV the best in its segment.

The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is affordable, loaded with great standard features, and fun to drive. It starts at just $39,950. The electric SUV makes 225 horsepower. It has 220 miles of driving range. The Ioniq 5 is incredibly practical and has enough zip to satisfy most drivers.

The South Korean electric SUV comes in four different trim levels: the SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, and Limited. Rear-wheel drive SE, SEL, and Limited trims all have 303 miles of driving range. The Ioniq 5 Limited final trim includes features like a premium Heads-up Display, a blind-spot view monitor, and remote smart parking assist.

The Kia EV6 is the Ioniq 5’s stylish cousin

The 2022 Kia EV6 shares many traits with its South Korean cousin, the Ioniq 5, but its design language and styling are distinct. The EV6 certainly has a more aggressive styling than the Ioniq 5. It’s also slightly more expensive than the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The Kia EV6 comes in three different trim levels: the Light, Wind, and GT-Line trims. The EV6 Light starts at $41,400. The EV6 Wind starts at $47,500, and the GT-Line starts at $51,700. It makes 167 horsepower and has 232 miles of driving range.

Kelley Blue Book praises the EV6’s range and driving dynamics. Motor1 claims that the Kia EV6 GT-Line can go from 0-60 miles per hour in under 3.5 seconds. The EV6 is the more stylish, performance-oriented choice compared to the Ioniq 5, which is more value-oriented.

The 2023 Genesis GV60 is Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury compact electric SUV

The 2023 Genesis GV60 starts at $58,890. It makes 314 horsepower and gets 248 miles of driving range. The GV60 is quick, has an attractive exterior styling, and great driving dynamics. The GV60 resembles a more luxurious version of the EV6.

Hyundai Motor Group has a wide range of electric SUV offerings. The South Korean automaker has options for the average driver, drivers looking for performance, and drivers with more refined tastes.

Ultimately, the best electric SUV is completely dependent on your preference, but the Ioniq 5 offers a great balance of power, comfort, affordability, and practicality. Read more about the World Car of the Year, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, in the next article below.
