Royal Enfield has launched the 2021 versions of the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 twins with a range of new colours. Bookings for both motorcycles are open across Royal Enfield showrooms in India, and deliveries will begin shortly. Apart from the new colour schemes, there are no other changes on the best selling twins. While alloy wheels and the tripper navigation accessory were much awaited inclusions on the Royal Enfield twins, both features have been given a miss for the time being.

2021 royal enfield interceptor 650 and continental gt 650 launched with new colours

Royal Enfield offers a range of customization options for the 2021 Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 twins straight from the factory. Customers wishing to add accessories to their twins can do so through the Make-It-Yours program. This program allows buyers to configure the twins with accessories such as seats, touring mirrors, fly screen, sump guards and more.

Vinod K. Dasari, CEO Royal Enfield said

The launch of the 650 Twins marked a new chapter for Royal Enfield and for the mid-sized motorcycle segment. The global success of these motorcycles over the last couple of years has been phenomenal with the Interceptor growing the 500cc+ category by more than 4-times in India, and also becoming the best selling naked motorcycle in the mid-sized category in the UK in 2020. The introduction of Make-It-Yours on the 650 Twin motorcycles in October last year further enhanced the personalization possibilities and overall appeal of these motorcycles. MiY unlocks thousands of personalization options and is becoming a game changer for Royal Enfield. We believe that the newly introduced colourways on the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650, along with unique personalisation options via MiY will go a long way in bringing more enthusiasts into the brand fold.

Mechanically, both the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 remain unchanged. Both motorcycles are powered by a 647cc, twin cylinder air-oil cooled engine with 47 Bhp of peak power and 52 Nm of peak torque. The engine runs four valve heads, a single overhead camshaft and fuel injection. The gearbox is a 6 speed manual unit with a slipper clutch as standard.

The engine is known for its smoothness across the rev range, and has proven to be a reliable performer. Both motorcycles feature disc brakes on both wheels with dual channel ABS as standard. The Royal Enfield twins have been best sellers for the brand not just in India but in markets abroad. More variants around the 650cc engine platform are expected in the years to come.
