1972 corvette lt1 is one of just 240 produced in this configuration

This very rare 1972 Corvette LT1 may not bring a ton of money at auction, but it sure is cool.

There have been many rare combinations of colors, options, and features throughout the long and illustrious history of the Corvette, some produced in far smaller quantities than others. These sorts of things affect value in a big way – for the most part. However, there are times when rarity may not necessarily result in a huge boost in a car’s selling price, and that may be the case with this very nice 1972 Corvette LT1 up for grabs at Bring a Trailer.

This 1972 Corvette LT1 is indeed a rare machine by anyone’s standards, as just 240 were produced this particular model year with that particular 350 V8 and air conditioning. Whether or not that makes it a highly sought-after vehicle remains to be seen, but regardless, this Ontario Orange beauty is still a super nice car that most of us would be proud to have in our own garage.

Speaking of that orange paint, it was redone under previous ownership, and still looks fantastic today. The remainder of the exterior is essentially bone stock, with notable highlights like body-color removable roof panels, a vented hood, and 15-inch rally wheels wrapped with relatively new 215/70 front and 225/70 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. It also stops as good as it looks, thanks to four-wheel disc brakes.

The Saddle interior is in equally nice condition and features amenities such as a Delco AM/FM radio, an adjustable steering column, and some auxiliary gauges. However, there are a few components that aren’t currently working, including the key buzzer, steering column lock, hood alarm switch, and windshield washers.

Pop the hood, and you’ll find GM’s LT1 350 V8, which features some impressive components such as forged aluminum pistons, solid lifters, an aluminum intake manifold, and a Holley carb. It was originally rated to produce 255 horsepower, which flows to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

The presence of non-original components and an engine that wasn’t the most powerful in its particular model year means that this C3 might fly under the radar a bit at auction, and thus far, that’s been exactly the case. Regardless, whoever winds up bringing it home will certainly be getting a nice car for their money, as well as a pretty rare one, too.
